whats the best rom
can i get one from my phone

Right I will try, but bordering drunk as a skunk.
A rom is pretty much the same as firmware. If you update it official its called firmware (ki3 firmware for instance) but roms are just custom versions of firmware (ie revolution rom 2.7.1 is ki3 firmware, just changed a bit).

This roms probably the best place to start as it easy to instal and to be honest pretty good (I'm using it) Go to android market and search revolution kitchen, probably read the first few pages of revolution pros and cons thread in this forum first and click on the link for the revolution page to get the idea.

Just read everything carefully and ask if you need need help and someone will help but I don't think its going to be me. I have to sign out, I seem to be making less and less sense

Thanks Twinn. I forgot one thing. Before you try anything go to your cwm app and make a backup, then if it all goes tits up you can restore to where you were in the first place.

Right I'm still with you. 2 ways. If your phones turned on open app draw, find cwm app that was installed when you rooted. Open this, scroll down until you see backup press this then press ok and let it do its thing, it will take a while so be patient. The 2nd way is if your phones off. Hold power button, volume up and menu button until the phone boots into recovery mode (keep holding until you see a screen with orange writing. Then navigate to backup and restore (volume buttons = up and down, menu = select, power = back) then select backup, then yes. And then you've got a nandroid backup.
After that if anything goes wrong boot into recovery mode again but this time select restore and you're back to where you used to be. I hope that made sense.

i did the first part through cwm but now my phone is in what i think is recovery mode
with options
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

does nothing come with heart warnings

Sorry I forgot the phone doesn't reboot automatically when you go into recovery (if you do things via the cwm app it does) Anyway just select reboot system now and everything will be fine.

blocked by network providings
does that also mean bricked

also my keyboard has gone bent and ive got an extra a with a circle over it
a no entry type zero and an ae and a and an e stuck back to back

i got my keyboard sorted it was in another language for some reason

what i meant was if my phone was reported stolen
orange would block my sim and phone

can a rooted sgs2 be unblocked after it has been done

Correct, your SIM would be deactivated and the handset's IEMI number blacklisted to prevent fraudulent use.

can a rooted sgs2 be unblocked after it has been done

Nope, once the IEMI is blocked the handset is effectively useless. Your only chance is to contact your network; they may be able to have it removed from the blacklist.
