The specifications have been assumed to be similar to the current Galaxy S II, but they ended up differing in some significant ways, mainly the battery and display size.

Notes:
•DLNA: Allows HD output to a compatible TV or projector for home theater or business presentations.*
•HDMI-MHL: Refers to a Mobile High-definition Link that essentially uses the mini-USB connector to transmit HD images to external equipment such as TV's or computers
•CPU Speed, dual cores, and memory alone do not show how fast a device will be. Kernel, skins, ROM, and services also affect overall speed.*
•NFC Chip: Near Field Communication provides a wireless data connection to devices for payment transactions. (Article suggesting we still don't know about the NFC: Samsung Galaxy S II will have NFC chip installed, maybe not enabled NFC Rumors .)

The rumor is that sprint is releasing 2 Galaxy phones... the Epic 2 which is a souped up version of the Epic - still single core CPU, keyboard, and 8mp camera. There will also be a "Full touch 4g" which is most likely the Galaxy S II (aka within) - which will NOT have a keyboard because the cases already available fits the same galaxy S II across different carriers.

... thank the good Lord for that ! :D

i am starting to really dig this phone. Everytime a new phone gets closer to a release ( EVO 3D, Moto Photon , Galaxy 2) i want the new one . Is this a personal problem i have ?

LOL, no I don't think so. I've been wanting the Galaxy S2 for a long time now. Don't really care for the Photon.

what i learned is that samsung rulez. I mean, HTC is a pain in the ass to customize it. yes yes, i know that sense looks great, but what if i don't like it? HTC said that the EVO 3D was going to be open to root it... but still there is no rooting process for it

While HTC is obscuring the process, samsung is giving free phones to the modding groups so they can make mods quicker...

well, if i had a samsung t-shirt, i'd wear it right now.
I had a captivate and i loved it SO MUCH that i cannot believe it.
i just hope they don't use that crappy slow file system... well, or we just could wait for the lagfix

i don't know that much about moto... moto blur is awful, but i don't know how easy is to root it and configure it more usable-like.

.... did you say root a Moto? Not gunna happen....

If Sprint and Samsung are as smart as I think they are, this phone will be out this month for sure.

Both companies are the headline sponsors for Kanrocksas, a new 2-day music festival in Kansas City. My theory is they plan to launch their new phones before or around this huge event on Aug 5th and 6th. I bet before so they can be sure to have a week or so to ramp up public advertising as well as have plenty of WiTHIN's in stock at the festival for people to buy.

Just a thought. Big companies don't just sponsor events like this for nothing.

Well, The ATT version is said to have the older Tegra 2 chip and that makes it the same as the Photon. If the within is the same as the ATT version, then it is a big time pass.

3mm WIDER and 5mm taller. There is no measurement on there for thickness...

some people are taking those dimensions to mean the US version of the gs2 will really be an infuse 4g with different internals....

we'll see, but I hope the screen stsys 4.2x" instead of 4.5"

bigger screen means lower pixel density, and dimmer screen. The body on the gs II was superior, it was a superior size, and the only benefit I see going to a larger 4.5" s amoled + display is (potentially) cost of making the screen. Maybe it is cheaper to make a 4.5" s amoled + screen compared to a 4.3" screen because the pixels are less cramped and so cheaper to manufacture. Sucks if that was the rationale.

The only thing they needed to do was upgrade the radio to wimax, I really hope it's not a 4.5" screen, I'd still take one if that was all there was (and not using tegra 2 over exynos), but I'd prefer the body stayed the same dimensions.

It is very hard to image a world where a 4.5" samoled+ screen costs less to produce than a 4.3" screen. Taken to its logical conclusion, it would be cheaper to produce a 20" screen because the pixels are less dense.

The only issue would be if the 4.5" screen was simply a samoled without the +.
