Rumors

4K UHD display will be very important to me: I have the Note 4 with the Gear VR Innovator Edition. It magnifies the QHD display of the Note 4, resulting in what is known as the "screen door effect" as the individual pixels are visible. Increasing the resolution to UHD will mitigate or even eliminate that, giving anyone wearing the Gear VR a completely immersive VR experience without pixelation.

I'm stoked!

The logic in an August release is sound. If my last name was Shin ( first name Sammy :p ), I'd roll this thing out as far ahead of the iPhone 6S as possible to gain market share. I'm ready to pounce on the first batch of Developer Edition Note 5s, too.

I just hope the rumors about 2k Quad HD aren't true, and that Samsung surprises us with a 4k UHD screen. The Note 4 is nearly a year old, and it has QHD. The problem is the screen door effect, or pixelation, when using the Gear VR with it. A UHD screen would make using the Gear VR much more tolerable and the image more realistic & immersive.

If the Note 5 comes out with a QHD resolution, the rest of the package had better knock my socks off or I'll pass and wait for the Note 6.

Yes those are the rumored pics of the Note 5. The leaked photos came from Nowhereelse.fr and they have proved to be very reliable. Samsung is going to disappoint a lot of people not giving us an option for an SD card or removable battery. Having these two things was always my argument why Samsung was better than Apple when out with friends.

I'm not sure if there are enough features on the Note 5 to swing me in it's direction. I'll most likely go with the Note 4 or a different brand.

I'd like to think that our little part of the HUGE outcry forced Samsung's hand in making a microSD slot happen. If the Sprint version has it, chances are all the versions will. And THAT puts the Note 5 back on the table of consideration for me :)

I believe the s6 had a smaller battery than the s5, so it looks like they may be following that precedent. One of the knocks against the s6 was the mediocre battery life, so this doesn't bode well for the n5 sadly.

Don't worry though, you can take your beautifully thin glass and metal phone and slap an enormous extended battery case on it!
