Root Rumrunner issues

Well I'm back with another question.

The LCD screen on my old evo went bad so Sprint had to give me a new phone. I just got it and it has 3.17.651.4. I unlocked the bootloader through HTCDEV and tried to run rumrunner. I get to the second waiting for adb part and then get this error:

"looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!"

Any idea of what the problem could be? I've tested adb and fastboot and both seem to be working fine. I don't have HTC sync. Debugging is on.

I'm at work so can't try it right now (I only have a Mac at work), but I think my next step is to delete and reinstall the HTC drivers. That's the only peace I didn't really play around with. I may also try a different cable and usb port as sometimes those things play a role. I'll update this evening whether or not it worked.

As far as I know, it doesn't play nice with Mac's. Not 100% on that one though. :o

Absolutely, try to delete the drivers and HTC Sync. Then just plug the phone in and let it install the drivers fresh, but don't install HTC Sync. Let us know if it works. :)

Although probably obvious to most people, I didn't realize I needed to have TWRP and SU installed. The "su or FU" tipped me off, ha. Anyway, after doing that, I also reinstalled the HTC drivers and it worked. I'm now running 4.4.2 omni.

Those 24 hours or so without root felt strange...glad to be back.
