Help run-on wifi

My wifi won't stop scanning, even after it connects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not a smarty pants, but how do you know it is scanning after connection?
via your wifi networks screen? If so, mine does the same thing...it will scan...quit...scan...quit...scan...and so on.
Normal perhaps?

When i go to the wifi screen, the spinning icon appears after my wifi is locked in...and the battery level drops drastically. Both problems started today, at the same time.
P.S. The spinning search icon goes on and off, about every two seconds.

I'll have to double check mine when I get home. When you say your battery drops dramatically, what do you consider dramatically? Are you starting to sync something when the wifi connects? How is your battery life otherwise when not connected?

When not connected, my phone starts at 100%, and by five pm, it's usually about 60-65% with normal use. Today, it had dropped to about 30% by three pm. Nothing unusual, except for the wifi constantly searching. Tried the dreaded "battery pull" just now, so i'll let you know if anything changes. Thanks for the feedback.

what is your wifi sleep policy set to?

Network notification-checked
Keep WiFi on during sleep-always
Check for Internet service-unchecked
Auto connect-checked

Those are my wifi settings from the "advanced" screen.

The scanning is normal, otherwise it would not auto connect to wifi when you get near the router. Mine does the same thing scanning every few seconds. I don't have an impact on batter though.

maybe a weak connection?
i use like 30gb p/m n none of its wifi so its just a guess bro

O.K. Now assuming that it's not the wifi causing my battery drain, i will start to disable some of the bloatware that AT&T was kind enough to install on my SGSIII. Will update this post in a day or two. Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

O.K. guys, my battery today went from 100%, way down to 81% with moderate usage. Here's what i did...
Deleted play store app called "battery mix".
Disabled following AT&T apps:
TalkBack
Swype
Google+
Flipboard
ChatON
AT&T Navigator
AllShare Play

If you have any suggestions about what other apps i could disable, without screwing up my phone, i'd like to hear from you. Thanks for your help.
