Help Running a external hard disk on a DHD?

So is there any possibility whatsoever of connecting a external hard disk directly to my DHD (or indeed any smartphone)? or am I living in a fantasy world with the elves and pixies where all technology lives together in perfect harmonious cross compatable bliss?

the Nokia N8 provides you with a cable with which you can connect an external hard disk to the phone and use it the same way as you have connected it to a computer...

I am not yet sure about the DHD.. one of my friends has the N8.. will try it out using his cable soon and post the result here....

The DHD has only an USB client interface. You would need an USB host interface (like a PC has) for connecting an external drive at the DHD.

Yeh I can ascess all the stuff I need on my Main PC via wifi when i'm at home (or at a LAN), but I was just wondering whether there was any possibility of using my shiny new usb Hard drive on the go so to speak. Figured it was wishfull thinking, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I do usually have ascess to a Wi-fi'd PC most places I go (work, mates etc.) so I guess I can just set the drive as network shared and browse it via wi-fi. Makes streaming videos a pain in the arse tho.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.

Pathc made for external DHD unit (much like having a nexus) and in addition must have an appropriate USB cable. works as an external memory, a connection for the keyboard and so on. The only problem is that it is not yet perfected, so when we want some other form of USB connection with it we have to reboot the phone.
