Root Running an app AS system

ProxDroid

Lurker
Hi all,
I am back with another question. I am writing an android app that requires the privilege:

Code:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS" />

I read that to get this, I needed to run as the root user. I installed the app, then ran a Play Store app called /system/appmover that seems to interact with SuperSU to move an application into "system app". However, even after doing so, I get this error:

Code:
12-06 09:55:18.751: E/NFCUtil(1508): java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
12-06 09:55:18.751: E/NFCUtil(1508): 	at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method)
12-06 09:55:18.751: E/NFCUtil(1508): 	at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:515)
12-06 09:55:18.751: E/NFCUtil(1508): 	at util.NFCUtil$1.run(NFCUtil.java:72)
12-06 09:55:18.751: E/NFCUtil(1508): Caused by: java.lang.SecurityException: WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission required: Neither user 10085 nor current process has android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS.

Clearly I am not successfully running this app as root. How do I go about doing that? Thanks for any help.

FYI I got a response from a developer from Secure Settings. He said that this is a known issue with Android 4.4. I will try with a rooted Android 4.3 with the app placed inside /system/apps and see if the result is different.
