Running the USB into a computer

I did and I think it started to charge the battery, which I'm avoiding because I want to 100% drain it before its first recharge...
What I want to know is how to transfer files over from my laptop to the phone. I have some pictures (jpeg) videos (3gpp, came from my other cell) and a ton of music (MP3s) I'd like on the phone.

I got it setup, but I cant find the files I put on my phone!

when you plug it in it should give you an option. if not pull down the notifcation bar when its plugged in and choose the charging option and change it to the file transfer option
