S III Battery use

I'm very happy with my 1st full charge of the Verizon i535 SIII.
4G and WiFi on the whole time. As you can see, I don't have the best signal at home (114dBm average)
But even with the poor signal, I have crystal clear, stable calls.
11 hours of deep sleep according to CPU Spy.
My normal screen time is about half that, so a day, maybe two should be no problem.
Looks like the i535 has the same Cell standby bug the rest of the versions do. But that's a non issue.

Update: I just put the phone on the charger when it went to 1%.
18hrs21mins up time with 5hrs23mins screen

Impressive... much better than I see with my Gnex!!

I am starting to think the people with really bad battery are getting tons of notifications via push...I have seen a bunch of post with people saying they get 150 emails a day along with all these other notifications, I think that would be a huge battery kill compared to others that that don't get. 1/4 the notifications

Today I charged my phone at around noon, then used it intensively all day until I just got home in the last half hour or so.

My usage was: Plenty of trivia games (non-stop for nearly 2 hours at a potluck), lots of video and music playback, several voice calls and text messages and I had TripLog (GPS app that logs your mileage using GPS) running the whole time as well, including actually tracking me over a 1.5 hour drive.

The other day I got roughly 4.5 hours of screen usage and the battery was down to around 25% after all day on the road, but that was 90% phone calls (which is normally my daily usage for business) and that made me very happy. I have no worries I'm going to run the thing down with my usual daily horde of voice calls.

The battery usage is excellent, I have no complaints. To do as much as you can with a huge screen and the horsepower behind it, and still get that much usage, it's amazing. Of course, this is coming from someone who remembers using the StarTAC ;) People just don't know how good they have it these days... /get-off-lawn-mode :D

Yesterday was the most time I used my s3. Listened to music for 2 hours, phone calls, played few games, downloads lots of wallpapers and browse the net, social networking, messengers and lastly emails.

I could say it's a good battery. What do you guys think?

Today at work. Have been lightly using it texting 10x a day, few apps off the play store, some web browsing and maps.

I am getting great battery life. I havnt used it as much as my other phones but I am very impressed so far. One day I will use it for heavy gaming/Web surfing.

About 2 hrs with screen on.

I think a BIG battery saver for me is, I DON'T have ANY notifications set for Social Media. Hence I only check Social Media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) when I want to, versus constantly opening the notification bar\apps to check a notification...

What tricks do you use?

How do you do this?

Here's mine. I feel like something's wrong. Any advice?

When I bought the phone new, the battery was at about 40%. I drained it completely before charging it. Will it have permanently reduced battery life because of this?

Screen time: 4h 4m 49s
This is my first full charge.

Within the Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Twitter apps, I simply turned off the notification. After all it is Social Media, it is not that important. If someone needs me, they can call, text, or email me :)

Make sense?

How do you do this?

17h 44m 51s--34% battery left. Power Saving is OFF. Not overly impressed.

How do you guys post the pics of the battery status screen?

I think 17h battery time with 4h screen time, wifi always on and moderate signal strength is normal.

What does Accounts and Sync do anyway? If I turn it off, will my Contacts be gone? I got my Contacts from Google after I uploaded all my Contacts from my previous phone into Google.

Accounts and sync should just be a container for other options. Something like background data, auto-sync, and a per account option for various syncing options such as frequency.

Personally, on my Inc I have autosync off and background data on. This allows my emails to come through whenever it checks as the email app is separate. Then for twitter, weather, etc it will just update whenever I open those apps. I then turn off background data at night along with mobile network.

I'm at 78% with 5h 40m 49s. Battery life has been pretty solid. I unplugged this morning, ate breakfast, drove to work (15 minutes), walked into my building, sat at my desk, and still at 100%. I didn't even turn off 4G. Freakin awesome so far.

These phones often so drop straight down to 99 or 98%. Its nothing to worry about.

I think this has been fixed by the latest firmware upgrade. Mine stays at 100% for 30 minutes after a full charge and unplugging the charger before going down to 99%.

I've also found out just this recently that turning Mobile Data off saves a lot of battery life. I tried testing it on my last charge. My phone is 8h 12m 34s and it's still at 91%.

I notice I'm the only one that has media server high on their usage list. Today, it was #1, even higher than screen.

I guess if you listen to music and podcasts 8 hours a day, you can't expect the insane battery life some of you are getting.

I'm pretty impressed with my battery as well. Took an hour to drop 2% (from 100% after a full charge) and that's with checking emails and a 15 minute phone call. Used semi-lightly for Facebook, calls, GPS on maps, messed with the camera's features, downloaded new apps, got about 50 gmail/yahoo emails pushed etc...screen time is at 1hr, with 6h 48 min on battery and I'm still at 76% battery life.

Coming from my Incredible, my phone would've been dead hours ago.

You are correct. If you look at their screen shots you will see they are hardly accessing the internet, not playing music and not playing games. YMMV- i'm actually pretty pleased with mine, I can make it through the day at work in a notoriously poor signal area. somethings that always help for battery tricks is turning off mobile when you have a poor signal (I haven't), turning off push notifications (I haven't) and not streaming or accessing the internet... I think most that say moderate use are really closer to what I would consider light to very light use. :D

Either way, mess with your memory settings (clear cache), battery settings, shut down unused applications and generally shut down things you aren't using by backing out of them, turn off a lot of your push notifications (just check ur social stuff when you want to) and you will see an improvement in your battery life.
