Help S-note: no 'productivity'icon

I am unable to use handwriting recognition when I use S-note. All instructions say to use the productivity icon to enable this - but I have no productivity icon visible on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I am a fairly new user; am I missing something in the setup? How can I get access to it?
