Help S Note on Galaxy note 8.0 constantly refreshing

Hi everyone ...

I just purchased a galaxy note 8 and for some reason the S Note app always refreshes for a few seconds every time I open the app. I had a note 10.1 before which never did this. It's really annoying because every time I open the app I have to wait like 4 seconds for it to refresh. I tried turning off the S Note syncing but it still does it. Does this happen with anyone else? Any ideas on how to stop this? Thank you !

Nothing I've ever experienced on any Note device.
Have you rebooted?
If that doesn't help go into settings /application manager / (all tab) S Note clear cache.

BTW, Welcome to the forums and congrats on getting the Note 8.

Hey thank you very much for the response much appreciated. I tried your suggestion which seemed very promising but unfortunately it's still syncing/refreshing. So weird I even did a factory reset and its still doing this. The only time it didn't was before I setup my Google and Samsung accounts which doesn't make sense cuz my 10.1 note tablet never did this. Anyway I can live with it but it's just killing me that i can't figure it out lol. Anyway thanks again and I appreciate the warm welcome!

You're very welcome!

Since a factory reset didn't help my suggestion is take it back and get an exchange. FR for the most part clears out all bugs.
Before you exchange it allow me to ask, do you have any notes on it that maybe came over from your 10.1?

Yes I had a lot of notes from my 10.1 including a lot of pictures attached to notes. Perhaps this is causing the problem? They all carried over once I registered my 8.0 with samsung (cloud). But I feel it should not keep syncing if I turn off the S note sync option in the settings menu. I did a factory reset on my 10.1 but I've been thinking perhaps its still registered with samsung and the cloud keeps trying to sync between both of my devices (if that makes sense). I don't know just theory.

Yes, makes complete sense. The refreshing you described sounds like syncing to me although with syncing turned off, I cant imagine why it's still trying.
Since you have everything stored in the cloud, I'd delete them from the 8 and wait a couple of hours and see what happens then slowly put them back; not all at one time.

Ok after hours of painstaking research I think I finally figured it out lol. Just wanted to come back with a solution in case someone else was having this issue. What I did was go to Google drive... there you can see all the documents syncing with your device. Go to the folder or file that belongs to the app that is syncing. In my case it was a folder called Samsung s note. Right click on the folder or file, choose open with, then choose manage apps. From there it will show a list of apps on your device that are associated with your files. Pick the options button for the app and click disconnect from drive.

Also if there are apps that you would like to snyc with Google drive you can do it from here :)

Yes sir! I've tried it a bunch of times..closing out the app... restarting...no more! Although it says refreshing it was syncing. Perhaps there might be an easier way but this was the only thing that worked for me.

I just bought my Galaxy note 8 and the same thing is happening exactly. The refreshing does not stop. And I don't know what Google drive even is so not sure how it could be the problem unless there is something I don't know and it does it behind the scenes in which case I'm not sure how to turn it off. I have turned off all the syncing capabilities to everything that I do know and still it continues to refresh/sync. ...It does last longer then 4 seconds for me and is so annoying, oh it has the lovely added benefit of not only sync/refresh when I go into snote but also if I go to another notebook then back it does it. over and over and over. Any help or others having this problem would be appreciated.

Hi there vaheelius1

i'm facing the same problem with the note 8, keeps refreshing

i do have note 2 and note 10 (ridiculousness having all of them i know) and they don't have the same problem.

i did notice that there is a difference in the application compared to 2 and 10

the 8 snote app doesn't have a sync button in the option list (it only says refresh while the other devices have both refresh and sync)

Snote automatically syncs with samsung accounts as a default (which is a great thing so you don't loose your files) and as an option you can sync with Google drive or evernote.

i tried what you did with disabeling the snote app from my google drive but with no use.

i still get the refresh window which stays there for a bit (sucks when you need to open it while in a quick meeting)

if i disable the sync option from the settings in samsung it would defy the purpose of having all my notes on all devices available and fresh

i really am wondering why it is ok on the other devices and not the 8

can you help?

so i did what u recommended and it did work for a bit over 2 months...but now it's back and i noticed that the folder is back again in drive

did it happen to u again?

and i'm wondering why my other devices don't face the same issue
noticed that the sync option on note 2 is different than the 8 (it allows to choose to sync with googel or evernote...while on note 8 it is mandatory and can't change it)

I had the same issue and got support from Samsung.
Cancel synchronization in Settings in both accounts Google & samsung (you will maunually save your notes after).

If you still have the problem go to Settings and application management, select "all" and find "Snote" (3 apps). enter on the last one, clear the cach and the data ( you will lose all your notes so don't forget to save it in your samsung account before), and finally force to stop.

Retart Snote, restore all your notes and sync should stop.
