Root S-off benefits

Currently I am s-on running the latest Midnight ROM and everything is working great. I hear a lot about this s-off stuff and was wondering what benefits it would give me if I were able to achieve s-off status. Also I know that you have to do some sort of wire trick to get s-off, but is it fairly easy to do? I don't want to mess anything up since my phone is running great at the moment. What are the chances of messing things up while trying to get your phone s-off? I want some input from the community here before I attempt to try any wire trickery.

there are many advantages to having an S-Off phone, you can change your hboot version which makes it possible to run Evo 3D roms, you can change your radio, pri to make improve your reception and eliminate radio problems all together, you will not need to use smart-flash on ext4 anymore, S-Off is defintley quite great. If you do the S-off procedure it should not be too hard, there are videos and tutorials to guide you through the process, the wire trick may take a few tries i was able to get it in 2 attempts, when you do s-off if you follow all the instructions carefully the chances of you bricking your phone is very low, some people say they bricked their phones because they unplugged it from the usb during the process but theres a simple fix to that where you plug your phone back in and kill the process. I highly recommend s-Off if you think your phone is running great now you will be amazed once your s-OFF :D.

Thanks for your input. It is just that I do not want to bork a perfectly good phone. I already had to replace a faulty Evo V so I definitely do not want to have to replace another.
