Root S-off - Can't downgrade hboot?

I have been trying the tricks in the "Fix everything by turning your phone into an evo 3d" thread. I flashed the hboot but when I'm in bootloader it still reads "HBOOT-1.50.5050" but this isn't the version I flashed? Why isn't it working?

finally got it working and am now running hboot 1.04....Does this mean I can now successfully flash any evo 3d rom to my phone?

Sense 3.6 fully working
Sense 3.0 (gingerbread) fully working and mms broken
Aosp 4.0 broken 3d and mms
Miui 4.0 broken 3d and broken 4g and mms
Sense 4.0 broken 3d and 4g

As for that rom it's not ics but it will work

my sense4 is also daily driver ready and mms working..it will work with either hboot..1.57 or 1.40..only major things not working are 3d and 4g

I'm kind of confused with all the hboot stuff. Whats the difference between 1.04 (I got this one from Leslie Ann's turn your phone into an evo 3d thread), 1.40, and 1.57? What are the benefits and advantages to each?

1.4 is the old Gingerbread version where as 1.5 is the new ICS version. Some older ROMs require 1.4 and some newer ones require 1.5. It split the Evo 3D community in half pretty much. You have to be on 1.4 to do the Evo 3D flash in the fix everything thread, but you can upgrade your hboot again after you do the Evo 3D flash I believe.

Basically 1.04 let's you flash aosp and older gingerbread roms while 1.57 allows only sense (unless a rom really needs 1.57 you should go with 1.04 is the best right now)

Actually 1.58 is the new Sprint ICS hboot

If your still stock then to be able to properly run those mods you need to flash harmonia. I had the same problem.

How do I go from 1.5757 down to 1.04? I have s-off via jbear. I unlocked and enabled su beforehand.

Go to unlimited.io and download the PG86IMG.zip of the hboot you want. Put it on the root of your sd-card. Reboot phone into bootloader. Select bootloader by pressing the power button. It will find the update. Press Volume up to let it do it's thing. Reboot. Voila! New hboot installed. Remember to remove the PG86IMG.zip file, or else it will try to install it everytime you run the bootloader.

Hope this helped!

The unlimited.io website only has the JBear hboots available for download.

Here's a post with a link to most of the hboots available for the Evo 3D/V, and options to delete the PG86IMG.zip file if you use subzero's instructions. It also has the steps to flash an hboot through fastboot if you want to do it that way.
