Root S-OFF:when to do wire-trick?

YOu don't need to flash any rom to get rooted. Just need to download the super user patch. Read post #2 (instead of post #1), step 1, expand item 3 (2 options, 1 to download stock rom, 2 to download super user patch). I used the super patch. Flash the super user patch and you are set. After this, you can just follow s-off instruction.

Just want to make sure he didnt copy and paste and meant to put that there...
Do I need to wipe cache and dalvik for the su patch?
 
when i did the S-off procedure, I used the jonoputbear software, it was an all text box and it had a very clear, bold message telling me when exactly to do the wire trick, then it sensed when i did it, and finished everything else automagically.

was WAY easier than I had anticipated. the software really walks you through it. the timing is not complicated in any way, it waits for you.
 
Plus it's prompts and dialog are the most amusing thing that I've ever run on a phone or computer. Definitely lightens the mood. :D

I manage to get it after 15tries and 6reboots for the wire trick.
The fails / reboots are scary. They need to put some message about typing controlbear.exe -r when it is stuck on the splash screen.
The other fearful thing is it can blackscreen and seem like you are bricked, but you simply need to just take out battery and power it back on. Hook it up to computer and the redlight should appear, then you can do: controlbear.exe -r
I had to google and search the thread while in panic mode that i bricked it, but a sticky on some of these matter will help the new people like myself. Thanks everyone! I am S OFF and have sprint radios with harmonia rom. Things look good so far....
 
Plus the devs on the Unlimited channel on freenode may be terse at times but will spend however long it takes to get you up and running. Great bunch of people. :cool::thumbup:

Ha ha. That sounds similar to my experience of getting s-off. Except that it took me over 20 times to get it right.
