Root S-Off'd, Revolutionary/CM7.2.0 installed...GApps problems.

Afternoon people, where do I begin!

Got an HTC Desire GSM last year for me birthday and all was grand....until the dreaded memory issue. Done the usual 5 second Google search and learnt about the wonderful world of rooting.

About 6 months ago I decided to have a go with rooting, S-OFF went well and I installed CM got it up and running but for some reason I didn't get on with it so I went back to stock.

Feeling like a need to give it longer than I did last time and really take control of my phone.

So, I followed the instructions all over the place and already had S-OFF with Revolutionary so I reinstalled CM 7.2.0.1-Bravo from the CM wiki page. CM is running currently but I'm having bother syncing up to my Google account to get my apps/contacts and all. I'm using MyBackupPro which I copied all my apps etc to before I re-rooted.

Going on the search results my problem lies with GApps? I've downloaded version 20110613 from goo.im, is the problem with this version I'm downloading? Once I reflash it and get back into CM and try to add my account it's stuck loading for a minute or two to come back and say 'Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server'

I'll hopefully be about to answer any questions you lot fire at me and hopefully we can get this fixed.

*wall of text kills all who reads* apologies :)

Alan.

Just off the top of my head it seems like you have the wrong GAPPS for cm7. you should have version 20110828. you can find it here:

Latest Version - CyanogenMod Wiki

after thinking bout it for a bit im pretty sure that's your problem bro

Okay downloaded the 20110828 version, looks as though I had two versions on there too.

Is it a case of connect to PC, drag 'n drop, hboot, recovery, install zip from sdcard?

if you have a custom recovery installed ; just boot into recovery and install zip from sd card. you may even be able to download straight from the phones internet browser.

Not 100% up on the terminology but the custom recovery? Is that the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery? Installed that gapp and it's still throwing up that error when I try to add a Google account.

hmmmm... yeah custom recovery just refers to anything other than the stock recovery that came on the phone outof the box sorry for the confusion. anyway you can post a log of whats going on with the phone?

How does one post the log? Pictures or a txt file?

Hmm, could try a factory reset, or clearing data for all google apps. Assuming the patch installed correctly those are the obvious solutions.

Before doing that, check that background data is enabled and check your data/time settings (mine reverts to 1970 these days if it is totally without power).

Clearing the data = applications-manage apps-all apps-clear the google play store data?

Searching for Google based apps didn't work. Think I'll take a screenie of what's on the SD card and see what people say before a factory reset....grrr
