Root S-on and s-off

Newbie
  1. Download the file PB31IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card
  2. Shut down your phone
  3. Press and hold volume down and the power button to boot into HBoot
  4. The phone will find, load, and check the file you downloaded. It will then ask you if you would like to update using the file
  5. Press volume up to update the phone
  6. Reboot into your stock phone

Do I need to convert to S-OFF? How do I do that? i used unrevoked3 to put froyo on in the first place.

Thanks

it helps if you explain what you are trying to do...

yes.. I already restored to 2.1 using nandroid restore. I still see the radio at 2.x..

I am hoping that I can get the new 2.2 OTA, which is the reason I am doing this.

If your going to stock to get the ota u should install s-off incase they remove the ability to root.... Also with s-off u can simply just flash the 2.1 RUU
