How do I get it to sound an alert when I walk away with the s pen, mine doesnt seem to do anything...

The tick box is ticked in settings.

managed to do it, does the screen have to be locked and off though?

Same here - if I remove S-Pen and move away - nothing happens

The Demos from last August showed the Note 2 would sound an alarm if the S-pen got too far away from the Note 2.

But this does not work for me either (AT&T Note2 )

mine works now, try locking the screen and simulate walking away by moving phone quite a few times..

The screen has to be off. It is not measuring distance from s-pen; it is measuring how many steps you took without the s-pen in the slot. So if your screen is on, it is just assuming that you are walking and drawing.
