S-Voice: Anyone actually using this?

I've attempted to use S-Voice in real-world situations, but cannot seem to feel it is NOT ready for prime time yet...

Maybe i'm doing something incorrect, but i see big hesitations, no understanding and general awkwardness..

thanks

Wait for Jelly Bean, the S-Voice will be updated to be even better than the iPhone's Siri according to a video i've seen, it would be much more precice and way faster in finding results than Siri

I hope they give S-voice a sense of humor when you ask certain things in the update. Fun feature to play around with and use but being able to have some fun with it would be nice as well.

I've played around with it, but the only thing I really use for is to call people when I'm using my BT headset.

Haven't tried it yet but can you text people using S-Voice? I have a Moto BT headset and use that Motorola app which lets you respond and/or dictate text messages.

You can by-pass S-Voice by using the app "Bluetooth launch".

Go to Voice Search then com.google.android.voicesearch.RecognitionActivity

This will bypass S-Search and go to google Voice when you double click the home button.

Do you have a link to this video? I know Jelly Bean will have a major update to Google Voice, but I didn't know S-Voice was also updated. I tried searching for this new update for S-Voice but couldn't find it.

I think both Siri and S-Voice are silly......

I watch my Mom and Dad speaking slowly and loudly into their iPhones "Siri....BLAH BLAH BLAH" and they usually do it 2 or 3 times before they get their desired result, and I think they look so silly doing it.

I can see using voice commands for simple things like dialing but this whole "control everything by voice" isn't necessary in my opinion, at least not at its current effectiveness level. Apple just tells everyone that this is a must-have thing, and so people use it even when it doesn't work THAT WELL.

it has very useful features(dialing, info, music, texting, scheduling) and some useless gimmicky features(turning on apps, telling jokes, being conversational).

voice commands are useful but certainly not vital. i barely use the voice commands on my connect.

Right now I don't really use it that much if at all because its not that great. When Google Now comes out with Jelly Bean it will be much more usable than S-voice and you wont look like a mentally challenged person when you use it. Both S-voice and Siri aren't really good enough to be called useful, and in public, when your repeating things to your phone because it most likely wont get it the first time, you look like a loner with no friends. It is just faster to access the phone features manually.

The only dead on experience I found with S-voice was dialing. 9.9 times out of 10 it gets it right on the first time. Couple that with a wake up command and you got yourself an awesome hands-free feature which is very useful when driving.

Isn't that the idea of a mobile phone?

That's funny :)

I never understood the need to talk to a phone that's already in your hand.

Although saying shoot to take a pic in certain situations is interesting.....

The feature I want in voice:

"Galaxy - Read my unread Gmail from today"

This would be an awesome feature especially if it marked them read afterwards.

This would be a great thing going to and from work!

I use it. As a gimmick.
It's cool to text, call, set an alarm, post facebook updates, etc. But like everybody else, it's a bit glitchy. Asking it questions is hit or miss- sometimes it will give you an answer, sometimes it will just ask to search the web.

The biggest benefit would be driving- you could just say- "I need directions to 100 main street" and it would do everything for you.

I disabled it and improved my battery life. Never used it. I use vlingo

I'm confused on this. I see SVoice as an App in the App Manager, but it is not listed as a "Running App" in the Running tab. So how does disabling it improve my battery life?

As an aside, can I safely disable "Samsung Push Service" (which IS a running app all the time) and will that do anything for me?

If you open S Voice and go into settings you will see an option to turn on Wake Up Command, and it tells you that using it will drain your battery. The thing is, you'll probably find that it's already turned on... so turn it off.

If you don't turn the feature off, it is always listening for a voice command to turn on S Voice.

Removed from the home button shortcut. Don't need it at all. I'll be waiting for Google Search in Jelly Bean, that's much better,

I use it to set alarms/reminders or make a call/text when driving. Double tap on home key makes it convenient.

It's google voice which comes with jelly bean. Here's one of the videos (there are several similar out there):

Google Voice Search vs. Siri (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean) - YouTube

IMO, even worse than the lame Siri, but even more of a resource hog. I disabled it.

I would rather they invested the money in better 3G radio reception efforts. All the other radios are fine, so at least they are progressing.

This will also make it wake quicker , as when enabled, phone pauses a second or two as s-voice listens.

When I had it turned on it never recognised my voice. I began to doubt my own voice.
