Root S-Voice

I installed S-Voice on my EVO today and I must say, I'm really impressed! I did notice that you can't set alarms and saying Hi, Galaxy, doesn't work. But all in all, this is a great substitution for Siri!

To install it, do a google search for "svoice-signed.apk"

Tried it not rooted.. Keep getting unfortunately svoice has stopped message.

Im not rooted and i got them same messages. Your gonna have to uninstall s-voice and reinstall but when install open the app and when setup is up click "skip" and it will run perfectly. :)

That's what I just did. Was coming back here to say that! Works well for questions. Doesn't seem to do the opening of apps though.
Edit: actually open some apps but not Google music. Also hi galaxy does work if the app is open.

So far play music, evermore, and espn and kindle don't seem to be able to be opened by it. If course I would use this more to find info so that is pretty minor.

Thanks for this! I've been playing with S-Voice for a while now and I found out something rather hilarious - it's excellent at finding data like current presidents, prime ministers, etc. But ask it who the 23rd president of France is. You won't get the correct answer, Nicolas Sarkozy, but you'll get Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte.

So, yes, it is lagging behind Siri in accuracy, design, and query speed, but it's good for a laugh or two, and it works for some fun facts.

I'm curious as to what Samsung us using on the back end for questions like this. I know Siri uses Wolfram Alpha to answer some of these types of questions, which is pretty darn reputable in my book... I've actually got their app on my home screen (albeit with no voice support.)

S-Voice is rumored to use Wolfram, as well. Makes me wonder if the lawsuit that Apple is leveling against Samsung over Siri/SVoice has some merit.
