Help S2 Audio - other ways to output music avoiding DAC.

Only had the phone a week and what instantly struck me was the below par audio quality.

The DAC is supposedly worse than the S and iPhone.. in fact most other high end smartphones.

Its a cheaper Yamaha DAC that hasn't gone down well with audiophiles - which surprised me because Yamaha are renowned for high quality HiFi and Home Cinema.


Are there any docks out there that bypass DAC and read the digital copy of music and output to a amp for decoding?

Can the phones port output digital coax?

Are there any USB attachments that do similar?

This has been answered before, so search the forum for more detailed answers but here's the bullet points.

1) No, docks do not get a digital signal, just post-DAC analogue. (Even the official car dock which uses the USB rather than the 3.5mm socket)
2) You can use the S2 like a memory card and have players (car stereo, hifi, etc) read the digital file, that will bypass the DAC.

Those are your options.

OK Thanks. Thats a shame - external DAC docks were hard to find on iPhone so I guess that's understandable.
