s2 charging problem

I have searched the internet and read that alot of people can't change while there phone is on but I have the opposite problem as my phone only charges if it's turned on, once the battery is totally drained and phone has turned itsellf off I plug the wall charger or usb and it drains it till the charging logo disappears

I had a similar problem with my S2, must've been the charging port. luckily it was under factory warranty so AT&T exchanged it for a new one.
