S2 High Voltage Battery issue

hi

This is the first time this has happened to my phone. I charged it last night till full. Then this morning it kept beeping saying "charging paused due to high voltage". I switched my phone off to try, removed the battery and sim and now it wont switch back on. My husband uses the same Samsung charger for hHis Galaxy Note and no issue.

It shows the green battery and level and then a white circle but wont come back on. What's the problem and how do I fix it?

I have also just recently upgraded my OS to Ice Cream Sandwich.
