Hi, first time post.

I've had my S2 for a few months now, and a couple weeks ago my phone just stopped getting reception. I tried other sim cards in the phone, same thing. Tried my sim card in other phones, and that worked, so through reasoning it's the phone. I tried a factory reset which just made everything worse. Now all I have is a black screen, with an incorrect time, my battery symbol, the no signal sign, and wi-fi strength. I can also get to the notification bar, but that's it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum adagorn. :hello:

That's a strange problem. Is your phone under warranty? Might be time for an exchange. If you don't have a warranty, you can try the sticky at the top of the forum How To Odin a stock ROM. Install the stock ROM for your phone and hopefully that will fix it if it isn't a hardware problem.

Thank you for your reply.
I actually fixed the black screen thing before reading this, now it's just no service. Do you have any clue on how to fix this?

Have you checked your APN settings? That's the only thing I can think of that may cause a no service issue.

Hmm .. power off and remove the Sim. Power back on. Power back off and insert the Sim again. While you have the Sim out, if you have any compressed air blow the contacts in the phone. Maybe there is dust or something preventing a connection.

So apparently, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon version operating system on my phone and need to downgrade to 2.3.6 of the S2. Do you know how I can do that?

Like Bobby said, use the Odin guide. :)

You shouldn't have to go back to Gingerbread though. You can use the Jellybean file.

You do have the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 right? The SGH-T989?

It's the best way to fix it. Using that guide got me out of the Boot loop of Death situation I was in. I got a new phone before I just went ahead and did it. If I had had patience an done that first I wouldn't be stuck in a new 2 year contract. I'd probably be rocking an S4 by now. Not that I'm not happy with my S2 but watching ripped DVDs in HD would be a hoot for me.
