Help s2 not recognized.

hello....i just bought galaxy s2 3 days back.when i connect my s2 to my pc(win xp) the phone starts charging but doesnt show up as a folder on the pc so that i can transfer files from my pc.(the screen says...mtp application....below it says connected...press the home key to quit samsung kies.........)but there is no folder on the MY COMPUTER screen.but on my brothers laptop it is recognized and i can transfer files...plz help. is there a problem with my usb port or what.
also the earphones are not working....the sound comes from the phones speakers even after i connect the earphones.

Puneet, the problem with the earphones may be a crazy thing: take it to the dealer who sold the phone to you: or maybe the Samsung Service centre would be able to help you.
As for the connectivity issue:
Home Screen > settings > Wireless and Network > USB Utilities > Connect Storage to PC

and you will able to see the phone in the PC.
