S3 heating and OS issues.

hi all,

I have an samsung galaxy S3 (International unlocked). Got about 6-7 months back with android 4.1.2. Ever since I downloaded the OTA update for 4.3 i find the phone gets rapidly heated when i turn on 3g and use apps like facebook and then the battery rapidly drains, like every 1 minute one percent reduces (sync gps etc are off). This never happened on 4.1.2. Should I download a different regions 4.3 stockrom and flash it to my phone and see if the same problems occur? If so which regions is the best? If there are no solutions to this I'm thinking of downgrading to 4.1.2, so which regions stock rom should I download and flash to the device? Mine came with the Indian one but I'd rather have a different countries rom.

Generally whats the difference in stock roms from different regions?
Ps- My phone has never been rooted or anything like that. It was neither unlocked (as the box piece came like that). I just use it to text, call whatsapp skype and the occasional game for a couple minutes.

Thanks in advance,
C

Welcome to the forum mate.
Dont try to flash anything below 4.3 or youll brick it.
I think the best thing you can do is a factory reset
I think the only difference with other region's firmware is the language and the modem (radio software) so youre best staying on the version you have
EDIT where do you live and how did you get the update?

I live in india. Got the update via the phone itself. Actually when 4.3 first came I updated it and then flashed the old 4.1.2 back cause of the heating problem. But then I read somewhere about factory resetting. So I again dowloaded the 4.3 ota update and then factory reseted the phone and tried using it for while but the drains just tooo fast.

Hmm. So do you think its the connection thats causing the problem?
I dont know how things work in India, would you be able to flash firmware for your specific carrier?

Well in india I've never come across hansets locked to a carrier. We just get a sim card from the store put in the handset and it works. So flashing wont be a problem. The network connectivity here is good as well. I guess the 4.3 os has a few bugs(probably just the indian version)...

I think all versions have bugs tbh but a factory reset generally fixes them.
Are there other indian regional versions available? It might be worth a try.
All im worried about is if the modem isnt compatible

I dont know if other region's versions will connect to your network or what ones will mate. Hopefully someone else can help

I'll give it a go. I've read posts where people have used other regions firmwares and have had no troubles at all! So just wanted to know generally which regions firmware is good. Many say UK so im gonna give that a try first...
