Help S3 noisy home button?

Hi all, had this s3 for just under a month now.

The past couple days the home button has been sounding different. If I press it after it has been in my pocket, the first press will make a noticeable click (happens before the point of pressure needed for the phone to register). However all presses after the first, the clicking sound will sound a lot healthier and happen at the pressure needed for the phone to register a press.

Have I got a fault, or has the button simply "wore in"?

Thanks
Ash

Did you get something sticky on there? Perhaps a drop of soda or something like that? Maybe try a Q-Tip with a little alcohol to clean around the button.

Doesn't seem so but i'll try give it a clean anyway. Seems normal a lot of the time but sometimes sounds unhealthy!

I just recently started hearing my home button click a little bit too. Definitely havent spilled anything on it either.

That's the bad thing about having a physical home button. More moving parts= more things that can go wrong.

Hi all sorry for late reply.

I have noticed the issue is more prominent when the phone is warm (ie been in pocket for long time or heavy use)

Perhaps it's the heat very slightly morphing the plastic which produces the clicky noise? As of typing this, my room temperature phone is click free.

I bought my S3 used, it definitely has a cheap plastic clicking sound. I can lightly tap the home button (not press) and it makes a rattle sound also. The button seems to have a little wiggle to it too. Very annoying, but the button works good. What's weird is it doesn't make the noise consistently, very randomly.

U should fill out your profile john mate ;)
Mostly so people know which model youre using but also 'coz im nosey lol :)

My home button is and always has been completely solid and doesnt make a noise but you can feel when youve pressed it far enough.
Having said that, i dont use that button much, i multitask and clear ram with other apps.
To me it seems ugly but fairly well engineered tbh man
