S4 For Metro?

I was wondering if MetroPCS was getting the S4 if so when if anyone knows, I want to selll my S3 and buy a S4 and flash it to Metro if that's possible?

Yes metro is getting the s4 it showed up on the fcc last month. When? I don't know yet but it will come to metro my guess is July.

Hmmm now the next question is, do I wait until it comes to Metro or do I buy it from Amazon or somewhere e.e

i woldnt hold much faith in that, all we know is a samsung device went through the fcc last month and is headed for metropcs

I know but we Tampa Boyz got a ninja you forgot already :p:D

everything i find points to metro not getting it :/

most of the belief that metro is getting it stems from the engadget article, which reading the fcc documents all points to A samsung device, not necessarily the sgs4. but its engadget, in their review of the sgs4 the kept complaining about how it had 4.1.2 and was so far behind until a reader corrected them and told them it was 4.2.2 (you know as opposed to them looking in the settings of the phone they have in their hand).

all i say lets see what this year brings us. theres a reason to be skeptic one is being this phone just barley came out and retail for it is $750 on sprint dunno how much its on other carriers but if we do the math $750 retail without contract that doesn't leave metro with much room for profit. they would have to sell for $850 just to make it worth while for them. My opinion about this so far that perhaps that metro might get it but not today 2morrow or next month just like we got the gs3 5-7 month later after it was released i see the same scenario happening here which isnt a huge issue. Just remember $500 is metro's top price for latest quality phones so unless the gs4 comes down to that price we aint gonna see it.

Edit:
Moved to the metropcs subforum since its a general talk about the gs4 coming to metro.

Perhaps you should read up on Ockham's Razor.

If we follow your "logic" then we would have to believe that Samsung has introduced a flagship model ONLY for MetroPCS, no other carriers and that was what was sent to the FCC.

Which of course, makes absolutely No Sense At All.

The apparent simplest solution of course is also the most obvious.

That you're just wrong about saying the S4 isn't coming to Metro.

Well let's see I stand by my ninja he has delivered before but like n4zty let's see what happens at the moment the price is very high but within 3 months it will drop as other models come out although only the HTC one or the upcoming nexus and x phone will be the high contenders.

Edit the tmobile s4 is $629

who said it was a flagship device? Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy S3 Mini comparison review - PC Advisor

or does no one remember the indulge was the crappy little brother of the epic 4g?

so you are basing this all off the fcc filings which lists the model number SCH-R970, note there isnt a carrier tag at the end like there was with the SCH-R530U/C/M so this is a special model. this is where we first heard about it.

Source: Samsung Galaxy S 4 hits the FCC in MetroPCS and Sprint forms

here we have a benchmark leading to the creditably of engadget (something they desperately need)

surely anything scoring that high would have to be a sgs4 (especially the android version and clock speed...)

so a quick search of the SCH-R970 and look at this...

now i know what yall are thinking, "damn shabby you think you are so smart but you are just a #^$%@ing idiot, we would have a device just like the us cellular variant." True! if teh cricket variant didnt have a different model number as well and there was carrier labels involved

add that with the fact that there still has been no single shred of proof that i have seen that metropcs will be getting it, samsung has all the other carriers listed. kernel source came out and all the variants are there except one jf_mtr_defconfig (as in they dont have one).

so there you have it.

I understand your point shabby I'm basing my point based on my personal opinion and from previous metro's way of doing things which is crazy lol, talking to the ninja about the s4 he can only assume at this point but a couple of things might point to a summer release but there's a big but that at this point we don't know much about.

im not denying there isnt a new phone coming (that would be dumb). however i dont think its teh sgs4 you think it will be, it will prolly be a gimped mid tier phone. maybe same chipset but crappier screen. i think metro would have got the s4 had they not done the merger.

im ok with people not agreeing with me but to call me wrong when they have done nothing but based teh proof on one engadget article when ive proven the article is wrong (and that engadget tends to be wrong, seriously guys read Androidpolice for tech news, its worlds better).

well spoke to the source and he tells me he doesn't know. since he hasn't heard anything so its a toss up guys but either way T-Metro we should have some new selection of phones on either side soon i dont dare to speculate so dont ask me lol

Would it make sense to price an s4 for metro at $575 since the s4 for tmobile is $629? Just wild guess here what you guys think?

I don't see why the phone can't be sole for under $500 as it only cost around $240 to build as Samsung is producing most of the components for its device.

there's plenty confirming this Here's just one.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Costs $236 To Build: Will Its Bill Of Materials Effect Its Retail Price? [PHOTO]

PS. iPhone cost of build around $200

what it cost to build and what phone makers are willing to sell it for is different story. carriers dont have control of what the phone making company sell their product for, they buy by quantities meaning by the thousands perhaps millions for a whole sale price. but they have to sell for alot more to make money. so even if it took samsung $10 make a galaxy phone that still wouldnt make a difference. its business and business is about making money not being generous and nice.

a big deal about it is advertising.

samsung-advertising-spend-2012.jpeg

this is for all of samsung mind you but it shows how big of a way they go just to get their brand/name in peoples minds/heads. its obviously working as the galaxy brand of devices has been the best selling phones for a bit.

im sure some of the budget for ads prolly include teh recent scandal about teh htc one (samsung paid people to post poor reviews), or a few years ago they got caught with something similar against lg's refrigerators. either way they have a crapload of money to piss away on ads and its working, most people remember the next big thing ad and all the iphone jokes. and even some tongue in cheeck humor with the superbowl ad (no no dont mention that we will get sued!)

I dunno if we'll see the S4 on Metro this year at all... maybe next year - but that's just me being "optimistic" about Metro's track record. lol
Maybe that will change since the merger, but you won't catch me holding MY breath about it... again. ;)

Granted, Metro made me eat my words with the S3 last year... but that case, IMHO, was the exception - not the norm. (about Metro's track record - not me being wrong... that happens more often than I'd like to admit. lol)

N4zty, I agree with you %100 my point is the metro can still sale the S4 for under $500 and still make a profit . for what ever the prices is from the maker to the carrier. Sample: cost $240 sale to carrier for $340 sale to customer for $499 $159 profit for metro.

I personally think the S4 is a fail for Samsung.

S3 owners just keep your S3 and wait for the software update. Don't spend $600 bucks for a phone that is a small upgrade to what you already have from which 90% of what the S4 offers can be obtained with the next S3 update.

As much as I hate to say it, HTC is going to own Sammy with the One. I really hate to say that because of the percent HTC has to pay to Apple but Samsung has become something I do not like as a customer. But hopefully the Note 3 will change my perception of what Sammy has become.

If I was on Metro, I would want the Lg G pro or the Lg Nexus 5. But that's just me.

Considering the S3 for Metro and the S3 for T mobile was the same price when they came out, I would assume it would be the same this time around, if it actually happens that is. Maybe a little less on Metro's end but not much. $599 ish would be my guess.

But with the whole merger thing, I think it will be a while before Metro gets another big device. I'm sure they will want to see how the merger plays out before getting customers to commit to a $600 phone.

samsung will win again this year not so much because they have the better device but because HTC doesnt have the brand recognition yet. sammy had to go through the same thing with the S2, note 1, S3, and note 2 to overcome the strangehold apple had on the market. sammy had better phones but they didnt have the brand recognition.

the one is a step in the right direction for HTC and we may very well see HTC as a FIERCE competitor for the top spot in 2014.

competition is good.

you gutts think about it from samsungs view, the majority of people dont buy new phones every year. they are looking for teh people who are upgrading from their sgs2's which the sgs4 is a HUGE jump from

Fuzzy I know you an Lg man all the way :p that Lg Optimus pro looks nice though Lg is not a bad company they also make excellent phones is just at the moment samsung is the mack daddy :p
