Help S4 mini: does it support FLAC or mp3 only?

Does my S4 mini support FLAC or does it convert FLACs to mp3.

"It" will "support" whatever app you install supports. The phone supports bits and bytes, the apps support various file types. If they invent a new picture format tomorrow and someone writes an Android app for viewing it, your phone will "support" the new format.

That's what I understood to be the case. It's just someone recently put doubt in my mind.
