S4 wifi issue

My galaxy S4 has been dropping wifi signal since yesterday. The wifi symbol is still there showing that I'm still connected to my network but nothing loads. I have to turn off my wifi and turn it back on for it to work.

I've had the phone since it came out and never had this problem any ideas

Hello, vidic17. As mentioned above, restarting the router can remedy drop-offs, but you may also find that a change in configuration can have a more lasting effect.

The channel that the network operates on is often the culprit, as more networks in the area crowd the same default channels (1 through 11 are the choices).

Also, a true "restart" rather than merely unplugging or using the power switch/button on the router can work wonders (sometimes the system on a router can be set back to default settings via a tiny pin-hole on the back of the unit, sometimes just a "reset" slide switch, etc). If that's what you need, you'll also need to reconfigure all parameters, as the defaults have little or no security set up in some brands of routers.

One thing to be sure to perform is a test of your device by taking it to an area where a different network can be easily accessed, just to be sure you don't have a weak configuration in the S4. ;)
