S5 Battery Door Broken

Roguefirm

When I first looked at my S5 I thought the battery door cover was not going to last. And, sure enough 3 weeks later the door broke away from its rubber connection. Samsung wants me to send the phone to Texas and a payment of $70 and who knows how long my phone will be out of service.

I just think this was a terrible design destined for failure but I don't see anyone else talking about the issue.

I would venture to guess you could buy a replacement cover online for cheaper than you could send the phone in. Plus you wouldn't lose your phone.

I don't like using cases, but maybe you need one with this device if it's too fragile for your needs. Or maybe exchange for another device since it sounds like you're under 30 days?

My battery charger fell off after about a month. I was very gentle with it, so it has nothing to do with being rough with the phone. I had to use something to pry it open every time I wanted to charge, because I couldn't open it otherwise. Kind of glad it's gone, but kind of bummed that it wasn't designed to last.

IMO, when replacing the cover over the USB port, you should be a bit gentle, close it slightly and 'push' a bit to make the cover fit back into the right edge first.

then close it and press with a fingernail from Right to Left.

that is what seems to work the best for me and I have not had any issues.
