S7 Edge Random Restarts

I had the same issue with my S7, random restarts for no reason. Took mine back to CPW and they swapped the handset straight away, 13 days old. Luckily it's 28 days for returns or replacements in the UK.
Hope you get yours sorted dude.
I have a UK sourced S7E and yes that phone is faulty because i have tried everything to fix it like disabling apps and functions, removing and changing simcards, Upgrading and changing FWS, changing chargers but nothing has worked so far. I bought this brand new seal packed through an ebay store in Australia and samsung won't fix it here. Ill have to send it back to the supplier office another state from there they will forward it to HK I GUESS. Long process but it seems like phones of that batch coming from the UK are confirmed FAULTY.

My phone randomly freezes and reboots when idel.

It does it more once it 100% charged and settles down untill it brings down battery to 70%

It reboots as soon as i plug in a charging cord.

My s7 Edge is doing this too. Right in the middle of posting or reading. Also must be doing it when I'm not using it because it won't take my fingerprint once in a while. So far, it's not very frequent. The phone is a month and a half old. All the updates have been applied.

Mine restarts randomly once or twice a day (maybe more that I don't even notice) as well. I don't have any battery saving apps on it. So far the only reason that I'm not losing my mind over it is that the restart is so incredibly quick. I'm sure it'll annoy me if it ever does it during a phone call, but I maybe make one of those a month, lol.

Good luck with this. I had to get mine replaced and others seemed to also. The prevailing theory from the Samsung Rep at Best Buy was it was a bad connection in the battery area, which could come and go with heat. And in their infinite wisdom, the battery is sealed in and unable to be reseated . . . so . . . I got a replacement phone.

Wow dude. I thought I had the last S4 in use when I went to the S7E this spring!

I like my Samsung stuff and our S7E's in particular. I just don't' think Samsung's quality control is where it should be. My wife and I have each had our phones replaced once already. And I'm not convinced my phone is 100% on the up and up.

I've got an S7 Active and it has been restarting at random for the past month, I've only had it about 2 months now. It didn't do it the first month (or at least I didn't notice), but it seems after one of the recent updates is when I noticed it started. It doesn't restart as often as some of y'all are having problems with, but it is getting annoying when it does it while I'm in the middle of something. Luckily no lost calls yet.

As far as concerns with warranty replacements, these are covered by a 1 year warranty from Samsung. I had to replace my S6 about 8 months old via warranty. The screen went out on that one. Only problem with the warranty is they replace it with a refurbished phone. I wouldn't normally have a problem with this, but since AT&T forces us to finance the phones now with the "NEXT plan" I was expecting a new one since I'm still paying for it. Anyways, the refurbished phone's WiFi quit working (after the warranty expired) so I traded up to this S7 Active.

Wow, mine just rebooted randomly in my hand while reading this thread. Kinda creepy.
Have the same problem, maybe once a week. I don't really want to factory reset, so I will continue the search for a solution.

Mine just rebooted yesterday morning. I was not using it, just sitting beside me at my desk.

I'm just scared now of a trend starting. Will have to keep my eye on it for sure!

I'm on my 3rd phone (exchanged S7 Edge twice) with the same issues of random restarting. I think it's the update but T-Mobile and Samsung seem to think otherwise. There is no other solution for this problem except exchanging and not updating the phone. I'm waiting for the T-Mobile's in my area to get more phones in stock so I can exchange and I will not be performing the update!

Hi! Have you found a solution??? I think it is the update. Did the reboots start after you updated? Mine happens more like 6-15 times a day :(

My Sprint S7E started this in the last 7 days. If I use my phone heavily it can happen ever hour or so. It tends to happen after I unlock with my fingerprint then start using it pretty intensely. Though this is nothing new...I always blow through apps and tabs at blazing speeds on all my devices.

I don't recall when the last update was, but I'm skeptical that might be it. I tried a factory reset today and did NOT restore all my apps/data. Still rebooting on me.

Not a happy camper right now. This happens when I'm holding in my hand in various orientations, or even on my wireless fast charger. It's not impact nor heat. I think it's software for sure.

I have a gs7 edge from T-Mobile. Ever since I did the OTA update for T-Mobile a few weeks ago, the restarts began. I just got my replacement gs7 edge yesterday and I've already had 2 restarts today. It's only 10am.... Ive done 2 factory resets, and reinstalled the apps one by one to find the problem. I think it's the OTA update.. It just restarted WHILE typing this!!! Help!

Just created an account to add another conformation. My S7 has been rebooting 4-10 times a day (sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row). And most positively started promptly after the latest update from Tmobile. I called them, and a replacement is on it's way but, on back order for at least 12 days. I'm just hoping that the replacement doesn't ship with the latest update on it. Oh yeah... fast battery drain, getting hot... all that too.

Just got my phone a month ago. It's constantly restarting (sometimes one right after the other). T-mobile rep says Samsung pushed out an update that is causing this and they are working to fix it. Anyone else hear of this "known" issue, or did the rep feed me a line of crap

Rep fed you a bunch of crap. I got an update last week of October and no bug. If it was Samsung, it would have affected almost everyone worldwide at some point.

So I got my 4th phone Thursday & the new software was already installed & phone has reset at least 4 times a day. however, I did get a T-Mobile update notication today. Fingers crossed that this update fixed the issue.

Is there a way to revert to an older T-Mobile Update maybe?

*update* just got a t-mobile update. updating now, let's see if we I get a fix here....fingers crossed!

Picking up my replacement phone today. Here's what T-Mobile is the info for the most current update (Source)

Here's hoping it fixes things. My current phone was in a constant reboot loop this morning on the way to work.

Android version 6.0.1

Baseband Version:

G930TUVU4APK1

November 5, 2016
System crash/freeze fix

Various system improvements

Available November 5, 2016

Most recent T-Mobile update fixed it. All good.

Can you share you version info... here's mine (UK Voodoofone)

Android Version: 6.0.1
Baseband version: G935FXXU1BPKE
Kernel version: 3.18.14-9519568, dpi@SWHD4913 #1, Mon Oct 17 14:31:18 KST 2016
Build number: MMB29K.G935FXXU1BPJE

From: *#12580*369#

CSC: G935FBTU1BPJ2
RF Cal: 20160722
HW Rev:MP 0.801

Stock firmware (although I'm sooooo tempted to try a custom ROM but not too many around for the S7 Edge that's worth trying).

Mine was fine for the first 3 weeks, I took an update and a few since and since the first update, coincidental or not, it either locks up or more often (between 0-6 times a day) reboots.

I've had it on debug and running logcat waiting to see if there's any exception when it happens but no, just freezes and reboots, nothing at all logged. It can be on charge or not, makes no difference. Sometimes occurs when apps are being installed so wondered if it's an SD card issue - is anyone having the issue with no SD card installed? I left the card out for a day and had no crashes but can't be sure that's the 'cause'.

Thanks

My S7 has started crashing (black screen, needs a hard reboot with power + vol down) every few days.

It started after a specific Samsung OTA OS update, a few weeks ago.

I doubt it is app related, although TomTom has a very serious issue with the S7 which they say they cannot fix

and which is quite worrying since it may be capable of wiping or even damaging the phone. I keep an S6 (v5) as a backup phone, and for running TT.
