S7 & Edge stock firmware downloads

ironass

Extreme Android User
Firmware downloads are now available for some of the models for the S7 and S7 Edge.

This means that users can flash their firmware via Odin in case of problems and will prove very useful for rooted users in future.

hi guys i am new to android and do not know that much, i have an s7 so was wondering what the firmware update is? will this possibly fix my problem that i can not play audio through my usb charger cable??

The source listed here does indeed have every complete firmware plus iterative updates.
Check your specific device with the list of firmware available.
However, using this firmware to update isn't necessary. If there is an update available, it'll usually be pushed to your device within a week or two after release.

cheers dude? you seem to have good knowledge of android, so i will through one more question if i may as i am not sure where to post this type of thread. i connected my charger lead to my usb cable in my car the phone charges but it will not play music through my car say device not supported/compatible, on my iphone this worked, is this an update that will be due soon from samsung/android OR will samsungs only play music though stereo jack cables?

Added T-Mobile (USA) and Canada to post #1. Global models now have over 200+ worldwide firmwares listed for each model.

I checked in my settings under system update and found this. Has anyone else found or installed it? Is it good or bad?

That would depend on your model of Galaxy S7/Edge, CSC and Product code and/or carrier. Only 20 models to choose from. See, here.

As per post #1...

More stock firmware download links added to post #1. Still nothing for AT&T and Verizon yet!

Still nothing for AT&T and Verizon yet. These 2 carriers, unlike all other models, release their own heavily modified firmware themselves and not via Samsung. Therefore, if you switch carriers on these 2 models, you will no longer receive firmware updates.

hi there i just purchased a new galaxy g935f international version. definitely need some help here regarding firmware! i recently rooted the device and everything was running extremely good until i restarted the device to free up some ram and run the stock cleaner.upon restarting it the screen is stuck on the initial screen (will not go to the samsung logo) however it connects to odin and the only thing i can do is press the 2 vol keys up and down and put it into download mode so what i need is the proper firmware version for this phone i have been looking and there are tons of versions available no where on the device nor box gives me the info as well i feel that if i have the correct version i can restore the device back to normal again using odin smart switch will not work as well i really need some help here regarding this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated! this phone kicks ass and is wicked fast

Hello and welcome to Android Forums vito8486 :)

The only certain way to determine which of the 200+ stock Samsung firmwares came with your Global, G935F, model is by accessing the CSC and Product codes, which is not available to you as you cannot boot up

Which country and carrier are you with and was your stock firmware carrier branded?

im in the usa. and i did get the phone registered and anew sim at att i switched the sim out from my iphone 6s as they are different phones and have different networking thank you very much for the reply!!

OK... you have a grey market phone that was not intended for sale in the U.S. and you cannot access which of the 200+ global firmwares it came with. Therefore, you may as well, since there is no U.S. firmware for the G935F, download and flash the stock Samsung unbranded firmware for the U.K. See, below. Once you have flashed it and the phone is running, you can install, free from the Play Store, Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and run it. Under Product code, you may be able to determine your original Product code and use that to flash the correct firmware that will allow you to receive OTA or Smart Switch updates.

Model SM-G935F
Model name Galaxy S7 edge
Country United Kingdom
Version Android 6.0.1
Changelist 110166628
Build date Mon, 14 Mar 2016 15:03:53 +0000
Product code BTU
PDA G935FXXU1APC8
CSC G935FBTU1APB2

In older Samsung Galxy S models like the S2 an app called Car Mode in your Settings made that work. I think they left that out of the S7 models. I don't have one to check so I'm not really sure it's not there. But chatter around the interwebs makes it seem like it's no longer included. There's even one warning that downloading Car Mode from the Play Store messes the S7s up. Back to the ROMS.

Don't forget SamMobile for Stock Firmware. That sites been around a long time servicing the Samsung community.

Never mind the gator one costs money to download lol I guess I'll just wait till it's pushed to my t-mobile carrier for my S7.

You can also use a PC & use Samsung's Smart Switch or KIES3 desktop tools to d/l & push the update to your phone.
http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies

You may get a pop up when using KIES3 stating to use SmartSwitch:
IDK if it's optional,or,if Kies3 isn't compatible with the S7/Edge.one way to find out ....................
