Firmware downloads are now available for some of the models for the S7 and S7 Edge.

This means that users can flash their firmware via Odin in case of problems and will prove very useful for rooted users in future.

"Think all Galaxy S7 models are the same...
Think again!" ;)

I don't think that the global thing works, or in fact I am fairly sure. I have used one of these (Australia) & my SMS service is now defunct. I am looking for Build MMB29K.G935FXXU1APD1 which would match the kernel of a friends device. Can someone please provide a link to this build or explain how I can extract it from a working device to use it on my own.....

Hello and welcome to Android Forums T0b3rm0r3y :)

To locate which one of the 200+ Global firmwares that your particular phone is running on, you will need to install
Phone INFO ★Samsung★,free from the Play Store, and obtain your phone's Product Code. The last 3 digits of the Product Code denote the particular firmware for your phone.

I just bought a Galaxy S7 Sprint phone that is unlocked, to get root do I need to downgrade firmware? This phone is so different from my Transform Ultra that I could use a little push in the right direction and don't wanna mess it up, too expensive! LOL

Hi just joined, can someone PLEASE help me. I have been looking all over youtube and google forever to fix my phone. My ATT Galaxy S7 Edge G935AUCU1APB5 has been rooted with the new method discovered over this past summer. Now I have successful root. However my device lags like crazy (yes I set the CPU's to interactive with a root kernel app) and I don't like having my phone being "custom, no Samsung pay, crashing Bla Bla Bla.....). I have found multiple websites which provide the stock firmware for my phone but they don't flash properly. Odin says failed (using 11.2). PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME BRING MY PHONE BACK TO STOCK EVERYTHING, ( as a factory reset doesn't undo the custom bootloader). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone find proper instructions and the proper downloads. (I'm not trying to say the download of this website is bad)
THANK YOU SO MUCH

hi everyone

I've just traded my iPhone 6s for a galaxy s7 (SM-G930F) from cex which I paid 150 quid extra for the privilege, but it was worth it I hated the iPhone, anyway, I didn't notice at the time but the phone has a "three" carrier brand logo on shutdown and reboot and other various three bloatware on the phone which I cannot uninstall just disable. is there a way to wipe off the "three" paraphernalia and have a clean phone? the phone is unlocked or sim free (does sim free mean no branding?)

not a complete dummy but would appreciate any advice if its just a simple case of reinstalling the os/firmware etc to have "three" ejected from the phone

apologies if I am in the wrong place for this by the way

cheers
kris

Hello and welcome to Android Forums kris31uk!

You have, as you have guessed, a lightly branded Galaxy S7 for the U.K. network, Three. There is an unbranded firmware for the U.K. but if you flash this to your phone you will no longer receive OTA updates or updates via Samsung Smart Switch and would have to manually download and flash all future updates. Not to mention, that in theory, your warranty will be void.

thanks ironass for the reply

I think for what its worth mostly being the debateable 2 year warranty with cex it may not be worth doing at the moment,in the future I probably will but at least I know now. thanks for that

Hi all

i am new to all of this flashing stuff so please bare with me.

i currently have a Samsung S7 Edge on the EE (UK) network, Nouget is not available via EE yet and no sign on it on the horizon either.

im looking to take off the EE bloatware so that i get the updates as they are released instead of always been 1 update behind because EE cannot release them quick enough....

Any advice regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums repo!

EE are usually slow off the mark when it comes to releasing new firmwares. However, flashing any firmware other than that matching your phone's Product Code, (EVR for EE UK), will prevent future OTA updates and in theory, void your warranty.

To get rid of the bloatware you void your warranty. Not that that's a bad thing but it seems like a PITA to get it back to stock. I have yet to see a post about how "easy" that is to do. But I've seen many post saying how you can't really use the saved space because it's on a different partition or something.

Built-in system apps are in a separate, pre-ordained, partition, so uninstalling system apps from a stock, rooted, firmware does not create any more space. For that, you need a custom ROM such as CyanogenMod that is bloat free and comes with various sized Google apps, (gapps), packages.
