right, hand writing these out is bunk, but someones got to do it haha. im up to 33 apps removed...

i did note that "MobileCare 6.3.0_B2" has the same icon as the ota update app, and froze it (and MobileCare Extensions 1.0) without troubles.

what app are yous guys using to freeze apps? im working on my optimus zip because im waiting on a reply on how exactly to install the UnlockRoot program so I don't mess things up. as of now the root apps I have on my zip are as follows:
APK Installer
Superuser
Link2SD
Titanium Backup
Rom Manager
Terminal Emulator
ES File Explorer and ES Task Manager
Sorry im really new to all this and im just learning as I go. so far this site has been a huge help.

My Magnetic sensor on my phone seems to have stopped working. I use Smart Tools which includes a compass function. When I go to use it I get a warning message saying that the mag sensor is either not turned on or defective.

Wonder which item I froze is preventing the mag sensor from turning on?

It might be one of the apk files?

i dont know what smart tools are, and cant download them as im not paying 2.50 to test your app.. i have had no problems with any "mag sensor" sorry bro! try unfreezing the gzone apps....?

Dude they have a free version you can test. geez.

I did try to unfreeze the g'zone apps that I thought pertained and nothing changed.
Maybe its the app? I guess since I did pay for it, if I delete by "accident" I should be able to reload it.

I'll get back to ya

Also if the phone needs replacement, is there a way to save what I have now? Somehow be able to back everything up like home screens, settings, etc.

Just thinking I will get the replacement phone, root it and then reload it?

Possible

Anyone know how to turn off (as in remove/permanently disable) the compas on the lock screen? I hate it, but I like the double tap to unlock and the pin keyboard. So, how do I disable the compas, or are there any other lock screens you would suggest?

have to install another 3rd party lock screen i believe, and i would advise against it, because that just means another thing running in the background, but if the compas buggs you so much might be worth it for you. i always thought the pin lock would remove it from the display

OK Ive researched the following apps removed successfully from this site and XDA. This list expands on the previous one. I have frozen the below apps and have rebooted several times. No issues. But your all growd up making big boy decisions... so do this at your own risk. As always freeze and wait before taking further steps to remove the bloat. It would be nice if someone made Custom Rom for us non-coders. Enjoy!!!

Make a voicemail shortcut button. First make a contact named voicemail and enter the number as *86,,1234 (that is star 86 comma comma and then YOUR four number voicemail passcode.) This will call voicemail and enter your passcode for you. Next go to your app drawer and select the widgets tab. Find and select Contacts, and you will select your voicemail as your contact. You will then decide where to place the short cut.

Eh, can anyone send me the backups of the above apps,

i had a bit of a misshap, and now theyre all gone, and i lost the backups.

i think this could be done by filtering them all out, and making an "update.zip" in batch actions.

Help!
I've disabled most of the stuff listed above. Possible anything might cause the status bar to not fully function?
My 3rd party weather widget not showing up in status bar. Also my Overcharged battery warning app no longer shows % in status bar, but does show the icon when charging.... and still notifies when complete. Everything else in status bar seems great.

Did anyone disable Naunce Voice Command and if so did it have a negative or positive effect?
Anybody have a list of useless crap apps to leave alone because it'll screw up the system?

Hmm... On the old Commando I used to try and shut Naunce down manually, due to limited memory.
Even though it wasn't on the list I disabled it (in addition to almost everything listed) thinking, the Google App w/voice command does all that crap. But yeah, I could see how it might be crucial to the OS. It sure was with the c771. I put in a new battery and I'm still getting killed.
I'm going to leave it as is because I'm doing a wakelock check. But if it's inconclusive or shows Naunce to be the problem I'll definitely enable. If I can get the battery drain resolved I think I'll put a Nova Launcher on it. Wonder if you used a launcher or what stock apps you replaced and with what? Other than Opera, Chomp and Task Free, I'm pretty much stock without the Verizon/Gz crap and some of the pre-installed Google apps which are all disabled.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, especially since you don't have this phone any more. Other than the power drain, I kinda' like it. Bought it used from original owner, cherry. Still had the box. Right to strait talk, like the 1st Commando. I really wanted a Kyocera Brigadier but no quality ones in my area, and I couldn't live on the C771 anymore so I jumped on this when I saw the add. I know I should root, but I'm chicken I'll screw it up:)
Thanks again!!
