Safe Mode

Hi there, when i booted up my phone today it booted up as a factory reset ie all my apps gone and home screens reset.In the bottom left corner of the screen it said "SAFE MODE"?
I shut the phone down pulled the battery and rebooted and all is ok now,has anyone had this before?

it hasn't happened to me personally, but been looking around at xda developers and it is not an uncommon thing. Did you by any chance hold down the menu key when the phone was booting? that usually starts the phone in safemode, as far as i can see anyway. But generally it lets you boot your phone without starting 3rd party apps to let you uninstall any apps that runs amok - probably in an fc loop.
