Safely Remove Phone From Computer

With my old 2GB SD card, I believe it was corrupted like I couldn't view some of my pictures or when I would click on a certain picture, it would say "mounted read only" or something like that and I would have to mount my card again and this happened consistently. I have a feeling it had something to do with how I unplugged my phone from the computer when putting music on my phone because it happened after that. I just recently got a 8GB SD card and I don't want to screw this one up so is there a way to safely remove my phone from the USB connected to the computer without it harming my card. I click safely remove hardware on my computer and just pull the USB out, is that wrong? My phone is an EVO shift btw. Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forum. The way you do it is the correct way. You have nothing to worry about once you "click safely remove hardware".
