Since this is another phone in the Galaxy S line would it be safe to assume that this may have the GPS issue as the other Galaxy S phones, or was this fixed?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S (Sprint Epic) and the GPS works flawlessly. I couldn't be happier with it. Fast locks and accurate locations. Wish Sprint service was as good as the GPS is.
