MD5 is not in any shape or form firmware, it is an algorithm for verifying the validity of files. The MD5 file is only a few bytes in size.

the file has .md5 as file extension

I've seen this before; I think it's used to denote that the expected MD5 hash result is included in a file within the archive. This allows you to confirm that the file is uncorrupted before attempting to flash it. I know that Odin will accept a file named xxxx.tar.md5 as I've done it with stock kernels.

Okay might as well try flashing the one from xda. I'm just confused of the file extension and the file size because the files size in xda is around 5mb while this one's gone up to 200mb++ O_O

nope, the full firmware files on xda are 250mb+ too.. the 5mb file is just the kernel. each firmware on xda (intratech's thread) has two files, the firmware and the stock kernel. u want the firmware :)

Oh, so I have to download both?
So where do I put the kernel and the full firmware when flashing?
Kernel goes to PDA and then?

no, u just need to flash the firmware, u dont need the kernel unless u want to root
extract the file u downloaded, and put that into the PDA slot in Odin, and flash

Okay thanks for the help guys, I tried flashing the firmware (to downgrade my version) cause ever since I updated my firmware with kies, my gprs won't work. However, after flashing the rom I think my firmware wasn't downgraded at all.

well if ur flashing with odin, why not flash something newer than wat Kies updated u with? KI3/KI8 are very good. personally, i havent had any GPS trouble with any firmware i updated
