Help Samsug Kies 2.0

Was only able to use this 3 times. Which 2 I had to troubleshoot (which it just reinstalls driver).

Troubleshooting does nothing. Cannot start service on the device. Please disconnect than reconnect device. Done it 7 times already.

Any fix or stuck with a terrible program on my side?

I am unable to use the latest version of Kies with my Galaxy Note. I get the attached error message.

I have tried removing Kies, removing all its traces, downloading and installing it again, in vain.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Troubleshooting with Kies, rebooting the system, etc. did not help.

It happened to me after I had been fiddling with settings.
Settings -> Location and Security ->Disable USB debugging mode

Kies will not work if this is ticked.

I've got an SII which fails to connect to a Windows 7 64 bit PC, and a Note which fails to connect to a Windows 7 32 bit PC. Samsung unable to provide a resolution in either case, tell me to look out for a new version with updated drivers. Seems a hopeless piece of software, doesn't even time outafter after showing 'connecting' for 36 hours.

Kies is twitchy to say the least. I had my phone plugged in and opened Kies just now. There was an update so I performed it. Because it didn't warn me I forgot to unplug the phone so the drivers broke during update and I had to unplug the phone and do the TroubleShooting (read: workaround because we know Kies buggers the drivers up repeatedly) again.

Saying that, I only have issues if I forget to unplug the phone during update or if I forget to un-tick Disable USB Debugging after mucking about with other things.

Kies worked only once for me, when the phone was mint-fresh out of the box. After that, zip, zero, zilch, nada, the square root of jack, ... well, you get the drift.

FWIW, I'm rooted and on custom ROM (TMT1.1).

no problem with kies usng windows 7 home premium 64 bit connecting galaxy s, galaxy s2 and galaxy note.

Something else maybe..... I had the same ackward experience that my Note gave errors in Kies. I found out using another cable, Kies does connect ok!
Switch cable and try again; my cable delivered with the Note does not work; the cable with same connectors from my Nokia N82 does work ok...

Airdroid is far better but not sure if it does everything kies does or not.

PITA. I'm on MAC and it worked for about the first.... 2 weeks or so. Now it would never connect.

SO I uninstalled tonight, reinstalled and it connected again finally. had the blue USB thing on the phone showing data connection to KIES. Then it said my screen was locked, so I unlocked it. All good.. Then it said there is an update for KIES so I updated and now it won't connect again.

I can't be bothered....
