Has anyone purchased this Samsung Power pack? How does it work. Which battery is used first the internal or external?

I have one on order and it looks like it protects the phone and adds 1300mAh of battery to the phone. What i like best you do not need to remove the back and in seconds the whole device can be removed. Looks like it can be charged separately from the phone and can be added when you have a longer day.
