Samsung App Store

I've not got this on my phone any more as I have been on custom roms now with all the rubbish removed.

I did however used this app once when i was a root virgin to update the camera firmware.

I was wondering, do any of you custom rommers out there still use this app at all? If so, what do you use it for?

If I need it, is the .apk file available to install from somewhere?

And regarding the camera firmware, can anyone remember what # key sequence returns the camera firmware version? *#*#34971539#*#* does not seem to work for me any more. I had very poor photos with Dlev3.0 regarding the flash. It would seem to show lots of specs of dust flying everywhere when the flash pre-lights before actually flashing and image quality was poor. Seems very much better with check rom revolution however, but i wouldnt mind checking which firmware i have to see if there is a samsung update for it.

Yeah the only time I've used samsung apps was to update camera firmware. There its a zip with all the removed samsung apps in the kitchen so you should be able to extract samsung apps from that. Also are you sure the camera mod from checkrom rev wouldn't work across roms. Its a long shot but there have been a couple of mods that do.

I just want to check my firmware version for now.
the above *# sequence used to work when i tried it a good while back, but i may have been on stock firmware then, so i'm not sure if this crept in with this rom, or a while back

I already have the camera mod installed from the kitchen
I might try downloading the samsung apps file and look into it.
cheers butty

edit:
I downloaded the file, XXKI4_Samsung_all_removed_apps.zip (72 mb) and there is a SamsungApps.apk within there. Thats the one. Installed it just to have a nose. Latest firmware for the camera is dated 27th Aug. Think I will keep what I have with the kitchen mod.
There is also a SamsungAppsUNA3.apk. Not sure what this is for.

I also didnt realise that screen capture does not work with CheckROM, and noticed in this samsung zip a file called ScreenCaptureService.apk
That'll explain it then! :)

the Kitchen app has since been updated to include quite a lot of the samsung apk's contained in the above file as individual downloads from the kitchen, screen capture being one of them.

Can I just say the Samsung app store is pretty ace . Doesnt have a ton of content but the Gameloft section contains freeware that costs a heap on the Android market . Well worth looking through.
