Help Samsung apps - Camera Firmware update

Gearu

There is some kind of firmware update for the camera now in the Samsung App store.
hmmm.

looks like it might reduce the red spot from the white balance, doesnt get rid of it completely but reduces it somewhat.

I updated this yesterday but wasn't certain what it did or why the camera needed an update, I have only had the phone for a few days and not used the camera that much to notice any problems.

Updated it, but the red/pink spot is still there. Specifically when pointing the camera to a light surface, white or grey.

Hi,

Any solution for the Samsung's camera RED SPOT issues? It seems like the problem is still there. Most probably will send back to shop and change it.

Very much doubt that will fix it, its not a fault per se. Its a 'feature' of this type of camera, its due to it being so small I think. Samsung should have compensated for it in the firmware/software/drivers but they haven't.

...hang on. If "Samsung should have fixed it with firmware/software/drivers" then surely a firmware update is exactly how Samsung should fix it?

It is indeed, i was saying that returning it to the shop for a new one wont fix the problem.
Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update. Its a problem the HTC HD2 had when it was released, don't know if it was ever fixed by htc though (it was alot more noticeable though, i actually looked for it on this phone)

Thanks Teknik. Hopefully Samsung release the update ASAP. I thought is a hardware issue. Feel down for such a bad quality smartphone that cost over 500 pound. :(

I have only just seen this update in Samsung Apps also, rather than the usual Kies etc.. "GalaxyS2 Camera Firmware Update" is stated as Version: 11.7.01 (10 August 2011).

So this says to me the update is perhaps 1st July 2011, even though it lists todays' date. I do not know what the current firmware is on the phone in terms of version number so I can't tell if it's a large update or not

Has anyone tried this firware update via Samsung Apps and can actually spot whether it is worthwhile or not?

D

I heard if you set the white balance manually it fixes the problem, but it`s a pain to do, I only see the pink spot when it`s dark indoors.

it`s not a critical update... and if u search for samsung camera firmware update in samsung apps u will find it with no problem...

btw. is there any reason u always make a huge problem from a small problem ?

Does anyone actually knows from a reliable source what this update do?

Any samsung official website with the info?

look under utilities, bottom of page in the category section.

It's interesting. I've scrolled up and down all that section, than dig under "New" section, but nothing.
This application simply doesn't show up for me.

Is it related to some regional\country restrictions?

Is this supposed to be a genuine firmware update? It looks suspicious to me??

How can I remove it / uninstall it?

Thx,
D

So this camera update firmware, does it disable the camera shutter sound?
what does it actually do? some said it made the pink spot issue worse?
so what did it enhance?

is it reversible once installed? or not?

I doubt any FW update would disable the shutter sound; IIRC, some countries have laws requiring the sound, so as to make upskirt photographs more difficult.
