I have a Samsung Captivate running GB 2.3.5 (updated from Froyo from the Samsung website), and I use ADWLauncher as my launcher. I have a number of widgets on my screens, from SmartCal to Folder Organizer to BattStatt and Picture Frames.
This morning, my phone refused to wake up. No amount of pushing on the lock switch would help. So I pulled the battery, waited 30 seconds, reinserted the battery and powered on. It took an inordinate amount of time to boot up (probably close to four minutes), and when it finally booted all of my widgets (with the exception of the Google search bar, oddly enough) now show "Problem Loading Widget" error messages.
This has happened before, and when it happened last time I had to manually replace all of my widgets, which is a real pain in the neck. In reading other posts on this topic (none in this forum), it seems to me that the culprit might actually be the ADW launcher.
Now, here's my question. Has anyone else noticed this kind of behavior while using ADW? Does the same thing happen under LauncherPro or GoLauncher EX? Am I forever consigned to using TouchWiz?
Or is there some sort of workaround or fix for the ADW launcher?
(BTW, I just downloaded App 2 SD, and discovered that none of my apps that have widgets are stored on the SD card. They're all on the phone.)
I really like the looks of the ADW launcher, but I fear that I may have to ditch it if these problems become chronic. Thanks, all, for your help.
UPDATE: The phone had started having problems with spontaneous reboots again, so I ditched ADW Launcher and went with GO Launcher. Since then it has rebooted once and locked up once. So I don't think it's an issue with the launchers. It could possibly be an app or a widget, but as I have over 100 apps on my phone, it would be somewhat tedious to remove them all then re-add them one at a time to see which one was the culprit.
