Samsung Captivate & MMS

Since upgrading to Froyo, I have no been able to send MMS messages. I obtained a new SIM card from an AT&T store, no help. I also got a replacement Captivate and the same thing. Appears it's a problem with Froyo itself in my opinion. I hope Gingerbread comes out soon and fixes it. Has anyone else experienced this and had any luck in getting it fixed?

I doubt it's a Froyo-specific problem unless it's specific to the stock Captivate Froyo ROM. I only ever ran custom Froyo ROMs on mine, so I can't say for sure. Never heard of the problem before, though. I would think that if a new phone and a new sim card didn't fix the problem, then it's something to do with your account. If you have a friend on AT&T, you might try swapping your sim card into their phone and seeing if you can send a MMS to test the theory. Personally, I would have been reluctant to walk out of the store without a rep either figuring this out for me or providing some sort of compensation for my trouble and inability to use a service I'm paying for!

My Captivate is running the stock Froyo and I have never had problems with MMS messages. I just got 3 pictures this morning, in fact.

Did you make sure that your data network mode is activated? Hold the power button until the menu pops and check to make sure.

I had this exact issue. It turned out that when I switched to a captivate using an AT&T smartphone package from an iPhone using the iPhone package, there was an issue. It pretty much prevented me from sending any MMS, although I had internet access. I contacted AT&T multiple times before they found the issue on the account (suggesting it was an obscure setting on the account). They had it fixed a day later after finding the issue. From what your describing (especially since you've tried multiple phones), it seems to be possibly the same issue. Good luck!

I'm still dealing with AT&T on this. The guy in the store totally changed my plan around and I got socked with a higher bill. I spent over an hour on the phone last night with AT&T, it's still not right. I will call them yet again. I'll keep this thread up and maybe give THEM some tech support:)

I just got off from chatting with AT&T tech support. He advised it appeared to be a provisioning issue on the back end, nothing to do with the features that I have on my plan. He opened up a case # for me and AT&T should be contacting me in a few days. Cross your fingers!

Well, apparently per AT&T, my contacts which sync from gmail are the problem. The tech support had me delete a contact and manually add it to the phone and the MMS went through fine. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but it worked. I'm not sure why and the tech support person couldn't give me a reason why it doesn't work normally.
