How many GPS threads are we going to need with the same rehashed arguments? Both sides need to chill, the phone isn't even released yet. Opinions have been made and there's no need to start having a little war. Make your point and leave it.
We have some impatient people here. You realize this is fixable in software updates, eventually, right? Why is it that you'll go kill small animals and abuse children if this thing doesn't work out of the box? Why not calmly wait, watch Samsung for updates, watch Sprint for updates, send e-mails, try to get some community action going to show both companies we are serious, etc. I love the overreaction. It's a phone. The chance that GPS on the phone will save your or another life is so minimal, it's equivalent to the chance that Samsung or Sprint give a rat's patootie about the members of this forum.

Can software updates fix every hardware issue?
The point has been made- Samsung says they will attempt to "optimize" a fix for the masses of ATT Captivate and TMobile Vibrant users next month. It's not a guarantee.
50/50 chance it's a hardware issue. Then what?
Those users are now past 30 days and stuck with their phones.
Samsung has a terrible record with GPS problems.
Samsung has a terrible record with making promises to fix them.
Those people have been patient- still getting the run around. They were sold defective phones with known problems.
The Samsung Marketing and Public Relations department has been hard at work making promises and "spinning" the problem.....trying to cover for the guys working on a fix- if there are any.
With no fixes for the other two Galaxy S phones even now....there are a lot of people who are pretty blindly optimistic the Epic won't have the same GPS issues on launch.
You got me all wrong, brother. I'm not saying the GPS will be fixed on launch.
I'm saying you're wasting too much of your life ranting and raving about it on a forum. It's a phone. Stuff might not work on it.

You proposed everyone should wait for a software fix, so what's your answer, huh??

Now that a certain diet soda has been appropriately banned...I just want to say that the Epic is finally arriving in 9 days. I trust that it should make a huge splash despite a lot of pessimism around its issues. I'm actually glad Sprint/Samsung took their time releasing it to make sure the issues were fixed (or are on track to fixing). Just a reminder for folks who might think they have a company/school/employer discount to go through EVPdiscount.com. I went through them for my EVO and was able to get it a day after release date but at least I got one shipped instead of still waiting around to have one in stock at the stores.
