Help Samsung Dive

TheKirk

Newbie
Hi fellas. I just got my Galaxy S2 stolen, and now I want to lock it and track it via Samsungdive.com. I have tried this before, and I managed to do both (Even though the tracking was a little off). I haven't turned tracking off or anything, but now, when I need it, I can't connect to my phone. Yesterday I tried to lock it and left the browser open for several hours, and I also left it up over night - no luck. It just says "Connecting to your mobile".
So I was wondering if this doesn't work when the phone is turned off or something? Can anyone please try with their device how this works when the phone is off?

Any tips to how I can locate my phone will be gladly listened too. It's only a couple of months old, and it's the best phone I've ever had! :(

No it doesnt work when phone is off, strange that!

^ Probably the same reason that google can't purge malicious apps from everyone's phones when they're off.

It won't work while the phone is off.
The first thing is contact your carrier and police to file the report.
People should remember that it is an expensive phone, so you should take care of it.

I used Prey at it works like a charm

Yearh I know, and that's why one of the first things I did was to set up Dive.
But so far a little more than two days have passed, and I haven't been able to get a connection to it, and I think that can mean only two things:

  • Either the phone is turned off (Hopefully just that!)
  • Or the thief has a little insight in phones, and knows how to google "Galaxy s 2 factory reset" and learn that you in fact can just press and hold Vol. Up+Home+Power buttons to go to factory reset mode.

I assume that you can bypass my password protected tracking-ability just by doing a factory reset like mentioned above, right? And by doing this actually ending up with a brand new phone that has no connection to me anymore (Besides the IMEI number, which I can't really use for anything unless the police accidentally stumble over it)
I called Samsung to ask about this, but the guy I talked to weren't very helpful. He didn't even know that there's a button combination like this..

Gosh, I hope the thief is an idiot..

I also lost my GS2 @ bangalore, india a couple of months ago.
I have setup samsung dive and other tracking tools.
the thief must have done a factory reset of sorts.. cant track the phone using samsungdive
and the worst part is, samsung dive started showing "Register your phone now" message from a couple of days back :(
any clue what this means?

Hi everyone, I have the same prob as hittudiv, my phone is factory reset, samsungdive is asking to "Register your phone now" . Ho do i track my phone now... the police as usual needs money (which i provided) ,yet cant trace mu Imei no. stupidly answers "if the thief use the ame network provider as mine , it will be tracked" , when there are numerous service providers. Someone please help....

That is not true. I just asked Dive to locate my phone and it did in about 30 seconds. At a guess the google map had it placed within about 5 metre!

The samsung dive website simply doesnt work for me. I log in, and then when i click on the 'register your phone' banner the page just reloads to the same screen. :(

i have tried this and i have my number registered as +6104..... and all i am getting is a message saying "this function is not supported for your area"
anyone have any ideas???

i have tried chaning the international phone code to great britain and it did start to search but obviously not going to find it cos of incorrect ph code

I don't recall doing anything special.

I believe I registered with Samsung from the phone.

When I later found out about Dive I went to the site with my pc, logged in and asked it to find my phone.

+610419------

and it just worked.

Sorry but I'm going from memory and from some time ago too. I did check last night before writing my previous post.
