usually it's linked online. go browse phones at sprint.com and there's a link when it shows prices. good luck, i think they flag purchases somehow if eligible for rebate as i just fought a big battle to get one for my wife's hero - finally successful though

I bought two Epics at Radio Shack this morning, not eligible for an upgrade, but I got the instant rebate on both phones. So, you might not have to do a mail in rebate depending on where you buy it.
