Samsung galaxy ace 2

Hi all,

I was browsing the net yesterday and noticed there is a jellybean update out for my phone. However, i have been unable to find a way to do this without the use of a computer.

My phone is currently running on the gingerbread platform.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :-D

Hi Nathan and welcome to Android Forums!

Go to Settings --> About Phone --> Updates and hit "Check for updates". If an update is available, it should come straight to your device and give you the option to install it. If you are rooted, be advised that many updates break root. You may want to check on Jelly Bean ROMs that may be available instead. I hope this helps.

It's great to have you here :)

Hey chief,

Thanks for the reply. Tried that before and no update shows up. That's why i was a bit confused when i saw jellybean update on the web.

My phone isn't rooted.

Glad to be here :-)

If there is an update on the web but it's not out for your phone via OTA, then it's likely a preliminary update and the final OTA should be forthcoming. You might want to contact your wireless provider and ask them when you might expect it. I'm not sure you'll get a straight answer... but it's worth a shot :)

Since you have a Samsung, sometimes you'll have to do update via kies which does require a computer.
