quick question about switching off 3g.

on my sony experia i have a widget on my home screen that switches my 3g off thus saving my credit. hubby got a shiny new galaxy ace today and i can't find anything similar. i know you can go through the settings to switch the packet data on and off but is there any quicker way?

thanks
amaire

You can use widget apps to make a widget for enabling/disabling packet data or to toggle 2g/3g.
I have used widgetsoid, you can try that.

Hi Everyone,
I am also not able to connect internet on Samsung Galaxy Ace duos CDMA+GSM mobile with GSM Sim .
If any one know the setting kindly let me know.

My Samsung galaxy Ace only connects to my home wifi and no where else. when i detect other wifi hotspots it just says 'conecting' but it never connects. how do i fix this?

Hi,,, I have the Galaxy Ace. but it connects itself to internet via mobile network which costs a lot,,, how can I stop the phone from that, and connect to internet only when it is within a wifi range,,,

NOTE: it is my first time to deal with android, so if you could answer me step by step in details it would be helpful...

Thank you and have a nice day
all you have to do is disable your packet data... "just simply press and hold the power button on the side, a menu will appear and uncheck data transfer"

Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 which is the standard edition, doesn't get 850mhz frequency, there is no workaround, its a Hardware Issue, that's why they released the T/J/G/B all those...

Funny story, i live in australia, asked samsung about their phone, and they said its not in australia yet, but 3-4 providers in australia are already selling it.

Research about phones and you wont come across these issues, mine was a impulse buy cause i needed a new phone for my work, i live in a rural area (non metro) and i don't get 850mhz here it seems, unless my sim card is the issue.

But my experience is that samsung offer terrible service over the online complaints and on their number provided, avoid their support, so make sure you buy a phone you'll keep, dont buy the expensive ones, buy the WELL KNOWN and great reviews, and make sure they've been reviewed a lot of times, no use in thinking a phone is good when its only got 100 reviews.

If someone does come across a workaround for the standard version of the galaxy ace that'd be great and i'd love that, but from my endless hours of exploration and firmware flashing and settings changing using the *#*#numbers#*#* settings screen for the dialer thing, setting the option for 850mhz doesn't fix it, on the bright side, i updated its terrible 2.3.4 froyo to an amazing 4.2.2 jellybean and loving it, don't attempt to do this yourself as 95% of the time you'll never get it the way it was if something goes wrong, and you'll end up with a optus firmware on it with lots of strange apps.

If you want to update it to jellybean pm me or reply and i'll guide you through the steps to do the same as i did, try not to follow the forums which have steps, as they don't show the proper steps to take and do it in a very confusing way and they don't explain why you should do it their way.

Probably its your 2g/3g thats using the credits, if you keep 2g/3g switched on all the time then their maybe some background apps that use the internet and costs you money. Keep 2g/3g off when not in use and also uninstall the apps that are unnecessarily using the data plan.
You may also want to check your data plan, it seems expensive for your usage needs.

i have got a samsung galaxy ace gt-s5839i and i want to know how to change the way i answer a call instead of swiping to answer a call i would prefer to have one touch .
