Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Help

Hello, new here, so wasn't sure where to post this, but I recently got a Note 2 off my uncle from China, so it was bought from china so it has china apps on it.

But I live in the Uk now, and I want to get the Google Play store on my phone, but I'm not sure how. I've googled this and many say root it, but it sounds risky to me that it might break my phone.

So is there anyway I can get the Google Play store on this phone without doing some rooting/flashing.
And is it possible to turn it into a uk version?

Thanks for your help.

I know is not the answer you're looking for, but I'd imagine rooting is the only way.

Unless you can install the relevant version of gapps (Google Apps) for your version of Android.

Not sure if you can do this on an unrooted phone.

I'm pretty sure that this is correct. OP, you might want to yet your luck asking this in the Galaxy Note forum as well.

You need more than just the play store app for it to work, you have to install or flash system apps. this is doable but will take a bit of work.
You can use the Amazon App Store app though. It has most of the apps that are on Play

Yeah I'll find a link. First go into the phone's security settings and enable "Unknown sources"

We get quite a few of these threads popping up with regularity, so I'd just like a small clarification if you will all indulge me. I got a "low end" French tablet a few months ago that didn't have Play Store either, so I just downloaded the apk file, installed it and it runs just fine. Why does it have to be any more complicated that that????

In a lot of cases, it has to be installed as a system app and given certain permissions, which you can't do without rooting.

If installing APK works, that just means that the GApps framework is there. On Chinese phones, where they disable the GApps framework entirely by removing it, installing an apk usually won't work, unless the device is pre-rooted (which is actually quite common in non-mainstream brands chinese phones).

Thanks funky.

I've checked, and It seems I can install APK files.
However, to find them on my samsung note 2, I use the 'search' tool and type in the game I want, and it brings me to baidu(a chinese website) and I click on a link and it should get me the APK FILE, but then when i click on the apk file, it brings me up to this QQ browser, which was already installed when I got given the phone. It then allows me to download, and after that it works.

But, I want to know if there's a english app which allows me to search for apps, and not some chinese one as I cant read it.

Thanks.
